With the most recent changes and rules around social distancing and lock-downs we have started streaming our exercises live to all our members . The tool we use to do that is called Zoom. Zoom Cloud Meeting is a communication platform that can be used to make video and audio calls. The app is available for iOS, Android, and PCs for free.
To improve the experience and for you to be able to better view the exercises/trainer on your TV while the live stream happens we have 3 options for you to consider
- Use a PC or a mobile device (tablet, phone) that you can connect via HDMI cable to TV
- Use the Screen Mirror to a smart TV
- Use the Screen Mirror using a Chromecast
The first option with the HDMI cable is the most cost effective one if you have a PC that you can connect to your TV. This also means that you dont need a smart TV (as long as your TV has an HDMI port). Simply connect the HDMI cable to both the TV and the PC/laptop, use your remote to select the right Input channel and you will be in action. You might need to adjust the display settings on your PC/laptop using the Windows Key + P (See this link for more info )
The second option we wont try and get into too much as there are many TV types out there but rather we will point you to few useful links. Also we would suggest to check the TV user manual as most of the Smart TVs will come with detailed instructions. The key things you need to remember are:
- You must have your mobile device on the same Wi-FI network as the TV
- If you have an Android TV please check this out – click here
- For Android devices – click here or here
The Third option we will cover in a bit more details as its something that we use ourselves in our studio and at home. The cost involved here is a Google Chromecast. The benefit is that for as low as $59 AUD (cost from JB-HI) you can convert any TV into a smart TV.
- Google Chromecast
- A TV with HDMI port
- Smartphone or PC with Zoom Meeting app
- WiFi connection
- Turn on your Chromecast and connect it to the HDMI port of your TV.
- Make sure that your casting device and Chromecast are connected to the same WiFi network.
